Participation in Seminar at UN HQ on Information Technology

Mr. Walid Alhadid, First Secretary of Jordan’s permanent UN delegation at the Informational Committee affiliated with the Economic and Social Council, participated in a seminar on policies and security issues in information technology, which was convened by the UN Institute for Training and Research at the UN headquarters in New York recently.
 
The seminar dealt with researching national strategies and framework of policies specific to simplifying the process of information technology and communications development, and their connection to the rule of international law related to the rights of individuals and societies in the computing age.
The seminar also addressed the legislative and governmental challenges facing policymakers in relation to rights of privacy, freedom of expression, freedom of communication and globalization in relation to cultural specifics and national variety.
 

At the end of the seminar, Alhadid was also awarded a certificate from Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Vice-Chair of the United Nations Information and Communication Technologies Task Force (UN ICT TF).
