AQABA (JT) — Fostering the global course of digital development through the UN ICT Task Force, former Costa Rica President Jose Maria described Aqaba as having a distinguished potential to contribute to the IT development track both on a national level, and as an IT hub for the region. He visited the Red Sea coastal city this weekend where he was familiarized on the accomplishments of the zone and other potential areas for economic growth by Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Chief Commissioner Akel Biltaji.
The UN ICT Task Force was set up under the directives of UN Secretary General in 2001 and helped to facilitate connections between interested parties for strategic partnership building in the field of IT.
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, who is also Vice Chairman of the UN ICT Task Force, spoke of the strides undertaken by the Kingdom through private-public sector partnerships in further developing the IT track here.
Abu-Ghazaleh, announced the opening of a 37th office in the country in Aqaba from which to further develop the track of technology orientation to human resource capacity building.
To ensure that such investments translate into positive returns, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. is providing computer training for hundreds of Jordanians through its Cambridge IT Skills Centre.
