24 Businessmen Represent Private Sector at the World Summit on Information with Abu-Ghazaleh amongst them

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is convening its meetings in Geneva in the period of December 10-12, 2003, to discuss the topic of “An Information Society for All, the Opportunities and Challenges”.
The summit provides a forum for gathering all sectors of the international community together, including heads of states, governments, executive directors of UN agencies, heads of delegations and national leaders from NGOs.
The purpose of this summit is to develop a common vision and understanding for the information society, and to adopt a declaration and action plan for mutual growth to be executed by governments, international institutions and all sectors of the civil society in order to break the digital gap.
 
Among the topics to be discussed during this conference is balancing the security of networks with personal privacy, electronic and national strategies and international cooperation. Other topics include the elimination of poverty and hunger and global integration for digital access.
 
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh from Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International (TAGI) will participate at the meeting amongst 24 businessmen from countries around the world, based on an invitation from the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and as representatives of the private sector. The most prominent of these are Mr. Colao (from Vodafone), Mr. Cortios (from Microsoft), Mr. G. Olila (from Nokia) and Mr. Rada (from Oracle).
 
Some of the most significant topics to be presented at the conference are a discussion of the electronic summit position, the role of sciences in the information society, the ‘hallow world’ project, the forum for IT and communications in servicing growth and the forum for electronic global media.
 
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh will also participate in numerous activities and events related to the WSIS, as he will be chairing a seminar entitled “Contribution to Economic Growth” in his capacity as Chairman of the Commission on E-Business, Information Technologies and Telecoms of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He will also help administer a seminar on leaders of the information society in the same capacity.  
He will be representing the United Nations Information and Communication Technologies Task Force (UN ICT TF), since he is its Vice-Chair, and will participate in a roundtable seminar entitled “Shouldering Responsibilities in the Information Age” as Chairman of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization.
