Abu-Ghazaleh: We Seek a Summit for the Developing World

13 Dec 2003
The Chairman of the Commission on E-Business, Information Technologies and Telecoms of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and Vice-Chair of the United Nations Information and Communication Technologies Task Force (UN ICT TF), Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, expressed his desire that the “World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which was greatly successful, will take us to a new summit; a summit for the advanced and developing world, in Tunisia.”

At the end of the activities of the WSIS in Geneva, he stressed that “the real economic, social, cultural and security problems of the world which do not recognize borders, require solutions from this world. This situation cannot continue, as the world is not a remote piece of land or something lost in cyberspace.”

He pointed out to the suggestion he presented to create a forum for monitoring and administering the internet, under the umbrella of the UN ICT TF.
