Cooperation Agreement between ASCA, University of Cambridge Announced
10 Aug 2004CAMBRIDGE – The University of Cambridge Music Hall – UK, witnessed last Friday a huge ceremony in celebration of the 20th anniversary for the establishment of the Arab Society for Certified Accountants (ASCA) and the notarization of the scientific and vocational agreement between the University and the Society, under which the Arab Certified Professional Accountant (ACPA) certificate was accredited by the University.
The ceremony was attended by a number of highly notable global and Arab individuals, in addition to a number of representatives from professional societies and members of the University's council and senior officials in addition to a group of the Society's graduates.
Among the participants were President Jose Maria Figueres Olsen, former President of Costa Rica and President of the United Nations Information and Communications Technologies Task Force (UN ICT TF), Mr. Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al-Busaidy, Chairman of Oman's State Audit Institution (SAI), and Mr. Jeremy Hanley, British Member of Parliament.
At the ceremony's opening, ASCA's President, Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, expressed his pride in the Society's achievements throughout its 20 years of existence, adding that the accreditation of its certificate by the University came as a crowning for the efforts of the Society and its accomplishments.
Each of Mr. Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al-Busaidy, Mr. Ken Murray, Executive Director of the Cambridge International Exam (CIE), Mr. Jeremy Hanley and Mr. Ben Gibbs, CIE's Validation Manager, spoke at the ceremony and praised both the efforts and accomplishments of the Society over the last few years while stressing on the importance of the continuation of support and cooperation for the Society.
Following the signing of the agreement, the Society's shields were presented to several honorees and a musical ceremony was held at the University's Music Hall featuring renowned Egyptian pianist Ramzi Yassi and Lebenese Soprano Ghada Ghanem.
