Trademark Section at the Iraqi Federation of Industries Relocated
06 Feb 2005BAGHDAD - The Trademark Section at the Iraqi Federation of Industries has moved to the Ministry of Industry as of May 30, 2005, officials at Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Iraq Office stated.
This decision comes pursuant to Order Number 80, stipulating the Amendment of the Iraqi Trademarks and Descriptions Law No. 21 of 1957, and the Council of Minister's decision.
Consequently, the section's activities will be suspended and filing of trademark applications has been ceased as of the aforementioned date.
The above cessation will apply until the Trademark Section completes the movement and inventory processes.
Order No. 80 was issued on April 26, 2004, by the Coalition Provisional Authority, and entered into force on the date of its issuance. The new amended law is named "Trademark and Geographical Indications Law."
Meanwhile, clients are kindly requested to continue sending their instructions regarding filing new trademark applications in order for us to file them directly once the Trademark Section is re-opened.
