AMMAN - Under the patronage of the Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Marouf Al Bakhit, the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business (TAGCB), the first strategic partnership between the academic and the business world, will be launched on Monday in a special ceremony at the Amman Marriott Hotel.

The ceremony will be attended by high ranking officials in the Jordanian government, German senior personalities, Arab and foreign ambassadors to the Kingdom in addition to public and media figures.

The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business is the brainchild of experts in both the private sector represented by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg) and the higher education field in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan represented by the German-Jordanian University (GJU).

"TAGCB symbolizes the first genuine model of a strategic partnership between the public and private sectors in the field of higher education in Jordan," President of the German- Jordanian University Dr. Labib Khadra commented.

"TAGCB, with its modern facilities and global feel, is qualified to be the first and largest training center in the Arab world in accountancy, intellectual property and information technology," he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of TAGorg Talal Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized that TAGCB is a truly global concept.

"Although education is rightly known as the responsibility of academia, the business world also plays a critical role, particularly through such means as professional societies and certification programs," he said.

"This is not a Jordan business school, it is an Arab international business school based in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan which will provide business capacity building and continuous education at all levels," he added.

The College which is expected to have extensions in various Arab countries in the near future will offer bachelors degrees in Financial Sciences, Management Sciences, Information Technology and Intellectual Property.

The MBA in international accounting will be offered jointly with the Arab Society of Certified Accountants’ professional qualification, the ACPA (Arab Certified Public Accountant, a program already validated by Cambridge International Examinations at the University of Cambridge).  The MA in Quality Management will link in to the Arab Knowledge Management Society’s professional program, the ACQM (Arab Certified Quality Manager), in addition to other specializations.

The MBA programs will be launched at the College starting in September 2006.

In 2005, the Jordanian Higher Education Council approved this partnership under the supervision and sponsorship of Dr. Khaled Touqan, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization is the largest Arab group of professional service firms in the fields of accounting, management consulting, training, intellectual property, legal services, information technology, capacity building, credit information and legal translation, in addition to being an affiliate of the World Bank, the Register of Accountants and Auditors (Washington) and the UN Center for Transnational Corporations (N.Y.).

Employing over 750 multi-disciplined professionals and operating out of 50 offices in the Middle East and North Africa, with representative offices in Europe and North America, TAGorg's member firms were established to serve the Arab countries and foreign firms interested in conducting business in this region. The German-Jordanian University was founded in 2005 by a Royal Decree, in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding reached between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany. The university is the 10th public university in Jordan and will follow the model of the German Fachhochschulen, Universities of Applied Sciences.
