TORONTO, ONTARIO -  More than 8,000 professionals representing top intellectual property (IP) and law firms from around the world have gathered in Toronto for the  International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Annual Meeting under the theme of "Cross-Border Trademark Issues."
This year’s event, considered as one of the best-attended meetings in INTA history, will have a busy schedule that will include workshops, industry breakouts, educational sessions and table topics.
Executive Vice President of Seiwa Patent and Law, Jun-Ichi Tsuruta, told ag-IP-news Agency that it is all about networking.
“It is a great chance to meet people and discuss potential business opportunity in this field,” the Japan-based head of the patent department said.
“We always consider it as a terrific moment to interact with other companies and experts and try to follow up on so many issues regarding trademarks, laws, etc,” he added.
Meanwhile, Matthias Bebi from A. W. Metz & Co. AG said that the event creates great opportunities to people from different countries to meet and discuss business.
“The event places people in one place and asks them to interact and network,” he added.
The Hong Kong based Rebecca Lo from Rebecca Lo & Co. shares the same idea.
“The family of INTA is growing each year, more people to meet and more subjects to discuss,” she said.
Others see it as an opportunity to do some marketing to the services.
Head of the National Marketing Department at Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), Motasem Abu-Ghazaleh, said that the event creates an excellent marketing opportunity to many companies.
“It is all about networking and creating marketing opportunities in addition to doing business,” he said.
“There are many events to attend and the chance to do marketing is really huge,” he added.
Meanwhile, more than 80 exhibitors will show new products and cutting-edge demonstrations during the event.
