Abu-Ghazaleh Assumes His Role As a Member of ICC Executive Board

PARIS - The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) informed its members that Chair of the ICC Business Action to Support the Information Society (BASIS) and Chair of the ICC Commission on E-Business, IT and Telecoms (EBITT), Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, was unanimously elected by the ICC World Council as a member of the ICC Executive Board for the term January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2009.
 
The ICC Executive Board is responsible for the implementation of ICC's policies and current financial affairs. It is, in particular, responsible for determining the ICC's policies and strategies and preparing for its program of action to be approved by the World Council; recommending for the World Council the creation, termination or merger of the ICC's commissions and other working bodies; recommending the adoption of the annual budget of the ICC; reviewing interim progress reports on the accounts and financing of ICC and proposing to the World Council the acceptance of direct members.
 
The Board includes as well Martin Granholm, chairman of the VR-Group and the Finnish Forest Foundation, Gerard Worms, vice chairman of Rothchild Europe, Victor Chu, chairman of First Eastern Investment Group, Kees van der Waaij, chairman of Unilever Nederland Holdings BV and Vratislav Kulhanek, chairman of the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto and the president of Czech Automotive Industry Association.
