27 Mar 2007
NEW DELHI - The Attaché for Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), US Embassy in New Delhi, India, Dominic Keating, visited Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) office in New Delhi on March 9, 2007, where he discussed, with the office’s Manager, Khalid Al-Khalidi, a range of issues relating to IPRs and their enforcement.

According to a press release by AGIP, the two parties exchanged views on broadening the scope of cooperation in promoting IP awareness and strengthening IP capabilities in India. They focused on the challenges facing American inventors and IP practitioners in India, especially those relating to patent search and examination.

The visit came on the sidelines of Keating’s visit to the Patent Office in New Delhi, where he held discussions with the Office’s officials on the latest developments in the IP field.

At the close of the visit, Keating assured Al-Khalidi of his full cooperation and assistance on any matter related to filing applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Prior to joining the US Embassy in New Delhi, Keating has worked for ten years as a patent attorney with the Office of International Relations at the USPTO. He specialized in patent matters, including those in the Indian Subcontinent, South America and Japan. Apart from his responsibilities in facilitating the IP work for US companies, his new role assumes a larger dimension in the context of Indo-US High Technology Cooperation Group and India-US Science and Technology Agreement which was signed in July 2005 of which close cooperation on IP between the two countries was an important part.
