Cooperation Agreements between the Arab Quality Assurance and Accreditation Network in Education and Four International Accreditation Bodies
23 May 2007Cooperation agreements between the Arab Quality Assurance and Accreditation Network (AQAAN) in education and four Arab and international accreditation bodies were signed yesterday at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business/the German Jordanian University with the presence of TAGCB Advisory Board.
The four agreements were signed by Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh- AQAAN Chairman, Dr. Saleh Hashem- Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Stephen Meikers- CEO of the British Accreditation Council, Dr. Paul. F. Rotegue on behalf of the International Business Administration Accreditation Body/Switzerland and Mr. Tomas Real from the Institute of Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance in Germany.
These agreements were signed after announcing the establishment of the Arab Network in Brussels and launching it at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business (TAGCB). This cooperation aims at accrediting curricula and exams of Arab colleges and universities in the international universities and international community. In the occasion, the signatories praised in their speeches the launch of the Arab Network and expressed their interest in strengthening cooperation with it in order to achieve its goals.
These agreements will be initially applied on TAGCB then on other Arab colleges and universities.
Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh announced that the Network first regional conference will be held in Cairo under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the Arab League Mr. Amro Mousa, the Honorary President of the Network.
The Network aims at designing a comprehensive system of quality assurance and accreditation to ensure that educational structures, organization and programs, faculty, educational materials, teaching methods, management models and methods in educational institutions meet the prescribed standards and conditions in order to reach the highest academic levels in efficiency and excellence. The Network aims as well at upgrading levels of graduates, scientific research and knowledge production, conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the Arab educational institutions, including universities, colleges, higher institutes and private and public schools, and measuring compliance with such specifications and standards.
