LES-Arab Countries Holds "Articulating the Value of IP" Business Meeting Today

AMMAN - The Licensing Executives Society-Arab Countries (LES-AC) in cooperation with Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) will be organizing a business meeting entitled "Articulating the Value of Intellectual Property, an Integrated Approach for Managers", on May 28, 2007 at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business/German-Jordanian University (TAGCB/GJU).
Several issues will be discussed during the meeting such as strategic planning for Intellectual Property (IP); Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) benefits and purposes, IPRs protection, IP and securitization, having competitive advantage in the market.
The main lecturer in the venue is Professor James Gerard Conley. He is a faculty contributor in the Kellogg Center for Research in Technology and Innovation and serves as a Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Design Engineering and Application (NU IDEA) in the United States.
In his paper, Conley states that "Intellectual property is a type of intangible asset that facilitates sustaining competitive advantage across technology and product life cycles. To realize this benefit, leading firms integrate knowledge of the law with elements of corporate and marketing strategy." The Professor will explore a framework that articulates the value of this approach.
Meanwhile, AGIP Clients Relations Manager Suha Al Mahsiri will present a paper entitled "IP Portfolio Management".
The participants represent both the public and private sectors mainly from Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), LES-AC members in addition to other interested parties.
The Licensing Executives Society – Arab Countries is a non-profit organization that aims at enhancing the knowledge of the business community in respect of the economic importance of licensing, the protection of Intellectual Property Rights, and R&D investment.
Since its establishment, the Society had worked hard to join the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) in order to acquire international attribute through its membership in a specialized international society. The Society joined LESI in 1998. LESI is considered to be the mother organization, which is a non-profit society that seeks to make international efforts in the field of licensing and technology transfer.
