Trademarks and Unfair Competition Course Concludes
30 Aug 2007AMMAN - The “Trademarks and Unfair Competition” Course, organized by the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Jordan Ministry of Industry and Trade, concluded on Thursday at the Marriot Hotel, Amman.
ASIP’s Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh handed over certificates of completion for participants in the course. Abu-Ghazaleh congratulated the participants and highly commended such courses in capacity building and in opening new horizons in the field of IP.
"We will make sure that such kind of knowledge reach all interested people in the region, therefore, our next event will be held in Muscat in October this year," he addressed the attendees.
"We truly believe in investing in our people, and that is the mission we are trying to fulfill," he added.
Eighteen participants from different Arab countries such as Lebanon, Syrian, Iraq, Palestine, Sudan, Egypt, and Qatar in addition to Jordan attended the course.
The ten-day intensive course, conducted in Arabic, covered trademark related issues such as registrable and unregistrable trademarks, cancellation of trademarks registration and trademarks piracy, in addition to topics related to unfair competition such as types of unfair acts, discrediting competitors, legal protection among others.
ACIPP is a professional Arabic program offering advanced teaching and training for Arab practitioners. It aims to provide an easier understanding of modern principles that govern IP, as well as access to knowledge and international developments, so that the practitioner may be able to provide his/her services in line with international standards.
