TAG -Confucius Institute Students Score High in Chinese Language Competition

AMMAN ------ May 22, 2011-------Students of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG- Confucius) won the first six places in the Great Wall and Petra Entertainment in the Chinese Language schools competition organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Amman at Rawdat Al-Ma'aref Schools & College.
Thirty students from TAG –Confucius, Mashrek International School, and Islamic Educational College took part in the first round while only 15 students moved to the final round in which students were requested to deliver a speech in Chinese to demonstrate their fluency and mastery of the language.
The event which was attended by HE the acting ambassador to Jordan Mr. Chen Xingzhong and the Chinese cultural attaché Mr. Lai Wanzhu included singing in Chinese, playing Chinese musical instruments, calligraphy, writing letters, and reciting Chinese classical poems.
TAG – Confucius Director Mr. Sami Al-Kharouf commended the level of the participants saying: “We are proud of the Institute’s students who were outstanding in this competition as it shows the level they have reached during their studies at TAG – Confucius."
Meanwhile, TAG-Confucius Dean Mr. Zhang Chengyu commended the efforts by students in learning the Chinese language especially that most of the students are considered beginners.
