University of Dubai organizes career workshop

The first Career Workshop was conducted by experienced professionals from government and private sectors on October 24th, 2007, at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI).

The workshop was attended by more than 100 students from the College of Business and the College of Information Technology with the purpose of (1) Highlighting the skills and qualifications required by employers; (2) Broadening the student knowledge on the employers expectations.

The organizations participating in the workshop were: E-Government, Hassan Bin Al Shaikh Group, Oracle University, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International, Xerox, Scope Information Systems and Accounts Middle East (AME).

This workshop was a unique experience as it gave the students the opportunity to interact directly with employers and gain an understanding of the job opportunities available in the market and skills needed by employers

Ms. Amina Elmarzak, Internship & Career Development Center stated that this was the first Career Workshop held for UD students and that it will be held once every semester to increase the career awareness amongst UD students.

The UD management sincerely thanks Mr. Ahmad AL Shaikh, Chair of the Business Advisory Council for the College of Business Administration, for his continuous support of UD students and UD programs. The UD management also thanks the invited speakers for their valuable participation and for making this event a successful one.
