TAG- Confucius Organizes First Jordanian Chinese Cultural Forum

AMMAN------December 29, 2010---------Under the patronage of Minister of Culture HE Mr. Nabih Shuqum, the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG- Confucius) in cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in Amman organized the first Jordanian Chinese Intellectual Forum at TAG- Confucius headquarters.
The Forum tackled several key cultural and historical issues with a special focus on the relation between Arabs and Chinese.
HE Mr. Chen Xingzhong, the acting ambassador to Jordan said:"The history of Arab and Chinese relations goes back to more than 2100 years and since then the relation got stronger and stronger especially through the Silk Road which stood as a witness to bilateral trade activities."
"His Majesty King Abdullah is a great supporter to the Chinese and Arab relations and due to the care of both leaders the Jordanian and the Chinese, trade grew stronger between our countries in the last ten years. The annual trading volume reached 28.7 percent," he added.
He stated, "The Jordanian and Chinese relation is really exceptional and will always be."
The event was held with the participation of intellectuals and writers from both countries and representatives from both the Jordan Writers Association and Chinese Writers Association.
Mr. Mohammad Sami Al-Kharouf, TAG-Confucius director expressed his satisfaction and happiness in organizing such event and said:"We are really proud
with our relations with Chinese intellectuals and writers and we hope host such great events and activities in the future."

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute was established in September 2008 to promote the Chinese language and culture, in order to reach a better mutual understanding between Arab and Chinese cultures. This is one-of-a-kind initiative based on the cooperation agreement between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the Confucius Institute in China. The Institute was named after Confucius, the world-renowned great thinker, educator and philosopher in Chinese history.
