Senator Abu Ghazaleh: Jordan is Capable of Overcoming the Economic Crisis

AMMAN --- December 28, 2010 --- HE Senator Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), believes that Jordan is capable to surpass the economic crisis and make a shift to an era of economic growth and prosperity.

In a lecture entitled “Where Are We Heading Geo-Economically?”, organized on Monday at Abdul Hameed Shoman Forum, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh called on the government to submit its economic approaches for the upcoming stage including protectionist procedures to the national economy either to products, services, industry or commerce.

HE Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the Kingdom’s ability to restore its competitiveness empowered by the productivity of the employees particularly in the private sector.During a lecture at Abdul Hameed Shoman Forum

“I call on Arab governments to strengthen their economic ties and move forward to establishing a joint Arab market. I totally believe that the Arab world will be transformed into an Arab joint market, either we like it or not,” he addressed the attendants at the Shoman Forum.

Moreover, he underlined the significance of establishing economic relations between Arab countries from one side and Iran and Turkey from the other due to the latter’s influential power regionally.

HE Abu-Ghazaleh tackled several key issues, most important of which was the global financial crisis, its consequences, and the global geo-economic changes and the world trade trends in terms of oil, currency war, and the Asian Intra-Trade.

He also addressed other geo-economic changes in the Arab world, including the main economic trends in some Arab countries, and the pioneering initiatives launched by Abu-Ghazaleh through the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) and through the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA).During a lecture at Abdul Hameed Shoman Forum

In his lecture, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also talked about economic issues related to Jordan through the Free Trade Zone Agreements, competitiveness, internal investment, and some other economic aspects of local, regional, and international dimension.

The lecture, moderated by HE Dr. Thabet Al-Taher, general manager of Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, was attended by high ranking officials, diplomats, media people and hundreds of concerned attendees.
