IFRS Foundation Extends its Gratitude to IASCA Jordan for Facilitating and Funding Arabic Translations

24 Feb 2014

AMMAN----February 24, 2014------For the second time and as a pioneering professional body in the field of translating international standards and professional publications related to accounting, auditing and related services into Arabic, the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation has posted its appreciation and gratitude to the International Arab Society of Certified Accountants (IASCA) Jordan headed by HE Dr. Talal Abu- Ghazaleh for facilitating, developing and funding the Arabic translation of Framework-based IFRS teaching materials on its website.

The IFRS has launched the Education Initiative by developing a series of comprehensive Framework-based IFRS teaching materials to assist teachers to educate learners about the Standards more effectively, and to develop the students’ ability to make judgments that are necessary to apply IFRS and the IFRS for SMEs.

Training material is prepared in three separate sections to support Framework-based IFRS teaching of CA/CPA:

(a) Stage 1: a student’s first financial reporting course;
(b) Stage 2: a financial reporting course mid-way to qualifying as a CA, CPA or
equivalent; and
(c) Stage 3: a course immediately before qualifying as a CA, CPA or equivalent.

The stages are broadly defined to take into account the many different approaches to qualifying as accountants worldwide.

It is worth mentioning that IASCA has translated the first stage of the teaching material for the workshop held in June 2013 in Jordan on teaching the IFRS: MENA Region as a donation to serve the profession and professionals in the Arab region.
