TAG-Confucius Celebrates Spring Festival 'Year of the Horse'

AMMAN----- February 10, 2014 ------- Under the patronage of the Minister of Culture HE Dr. Lana Mamkegh, and with the attendance of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, HE Mr. Gao Yusheng, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, the Embassy staff, members of the Chinese community in Jordan, and representatives of civil society in Jordan, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute celebrated the Chinese New Year- Year of the Horse.
 
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed attendees and expressed his pride for hosting this celebration at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum saying:"This is a special day because it is China day and because His Majesty King Abdullah II directed us that China has the priority."
 
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh highlighted the cooperation opportunities between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and China saying: "TAG-Confucius is the first center in the world to be established in partnership with a private sector, and the turnout of youth in the Kingdom who are studying Chinese language is highly remarkable."
 
 He expressed his pride of the partnership with Shenyang University and with the service TAG-Org provides to the Chinese Embassy especially in the visas section, with so far 25000 applicants from Jordan, Iraq,  Syria, and Palestine were granted visas.
 
He added that TAG-Org is the only Jordanian organization in the Intellectual Properties field that provides services to all over the world with offices in Beijing and Shanghai, and that Talal Abu Ghazaleh-China Trade Center is working on enhancing trade and businesses between the Arab region and China.
 
Dr. Abu- Ghazaleh announced the launch of China- Arab Forum for business and culture which aims to strengthen the business and cultural ties between the people of the Republic of China and the people of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
 
Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador Mr. Gao Yusheng commended the organizers of the event,  and TAG-Org for the role it plays in enhancing  economic and cultural relations between China and Jordan and for having all the Chinese in Jordan together with their beloved ones as a family to celebrate the Spring Festival.
He said that the role Jordan is playing in the region is recognized by all the countries of the world, and that Jordan is able to maintain stability in such a region full of contradiction is credited to the wisdom of HM the King and to the Jordanian people.
 
The Ambassador added that he took office two months ago, and that the relations between the two countries have moved towards strategic partnership after the visit of HM King Abdullah II to China. He said that there are many strategic projects under study and this will reflect positively on the relations between the two countries in all aspects.
 
Dr. Mamkegh wished that Year of the Horse would bring luck, good, and satisfaction to both Chinese and Jordanian people. She said that the presence of both Chinese and Jordanian people at that event indicated that the culture mission is on the right track.
 
She also stated that the interaction between the Arab and Chinese cultures is historic, and she referred to the Silk Road. She said that the Chinese have always been known for their wisdom, and today, in addition, they are known for their effort and industries.
 
Dr. Mamkegh mentioned that all the diplomats she had ever met spoke Arabic; and I thank Abu-Ghazaleh for adopting this initiative to teach the Chinese language at TAG- Confucius Institute.
 
Several shows and activities about Chinese culture were performed.
