I ask you to enjoy your days at school because in the coming future your sons and daughters will enjoy the blessings of virtual schools and universities- HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh

AMMAN------May 12, 2013-------Under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, president of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University (TAGIUNI), the Bishop's School's first youth conference "Yalla Shabab" was inaugurated at the School's headquarters in Amman.

In his keynote speech, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh encouraged students to embrace knowledge and expect upcoming change to the educational process.

"I ask you to enjoy your days at school because in the coming future your sons and daughters will enjoy the blessings of virtual schools and universities," he said.

"The Tsunami of information technology is a threat to the conventional methods of teaching around the world and you have to prepare for it by embracing knowledge. Wealth is in knowledge and not oil," he added.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated that TAGIUNI, the gateway to the world’s best education, partners with leading international education institutions to deliver accredited, world-class education to a global student body, "Access to elite, world-class education, however, remains exclusive and unaffordable to the majority of students around the globe. We are in a position to do something about it. Access to world-class education is an inevitability whose time has come."

"New information and communication technologies have not only created unprecedented opportunities for democratizing education and making universal access to education possible but these technologies are also transforming the whole environment for knowledge creation, dissemination, and acquisition — thereby reinventing the very concepts on which traditional education and pedagogy are based," he said.

He added, "Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University is our endeavor to democratize education, promote global citizenship, and empower citizens who have been disenfranchised by the technological revolution. Our mission is to make accredited educational programs accessible to everyone, everywhere. Instead of competing with institutions, we are a global educational alliance — collaborating with elite universities to deliver their education, online, to achieve our mission."

HE Ms. Haifa Najjar, member of the Jordanian Upper House and Superintendent of the Ahliyyah School for Girls and the Bishop's School for Boys welcomed Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh saying:"If we want to talk about a unique experience then we have to talk about HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh; a person who suffered a lot and made changes to the world to become a leader in almost everything."

She added:" You’re an inspiration to all of us."
The opening ceremony included musical performances by students, book fair in addition to lectures and workshops which covered Leadership, Health and Media topics which were addressed by youth, professionals, and experts.
